Worm Rescuers

We left the house at 9am and headed for the park/playground. Me, the kiddos and the two dogs. After a long week that was filled with a few of those "just one of them days"...we needed some outdoor time! Plus, it hasn't helped that the sun has not shone for a week. Anyways, Maddie walked the dogs there and as soon as we got there she let them off the leash and they went wild! The rainy/cloudy weather has gotten to them too. So the kiddos chased them around for a good long while and then once they were tired the kiddos headed to the play structure. But on our way there we noticed that the gravel path was filled with worms...struggling, wiggling to get themselves back to wet soil...out of the emerging sun's rays! So the next hour was spent finding all the worms we could. It was so cute. Maddie's a pro at this now that she's been doing worm rescuing for almost 5 years....but little Isaac hasn't had much practice and he was a little hesitant at first. But he warmed up to the little squiggly creatures in no time and loved carrying them over to the dirt.

Maddie kept saying, "We are helping Nature. I just love Nature!"

By the time we headed home the sun was out, the clouds were moving away and everyone was replenished.

I love them and their little hearts so much!
