Gratitude

This weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving. It was also my Dad's birthday on Sunday. Tonight we had friends and family over supper. It was a lovely weekend.

Every night before I fall asleep I write in my gratitude journal about the things I am grateful for that day. This is a recent little ritual and I am already really enjoying it. I go to sleep with calm, peaceful thoughts, if any at all; and it reminds me that even though it may have been a particularly difficult day, there are always things to be grateful for.

Although I am grateful every day, today, since it is Thanksgiving, I'd like to list a few of the things I am thankful for.

For my family, For my friends. For my home. For the luxury to be able to stay at home with my children and be able to watch them do all the amazing things they do and be a huge part of their lives. For my health, my body and my mind. For my talents and aspirations. I am just so incredibly thankful for everything in my life...even the not-so-good, because it all has led me here and right here I am just so very happy.

I hope all of you celebrating Thanksgiving had a wonderful weekend!

  1. My Thanksgiving was very nice as well. I like the idea of a gratitude journal, but I feel like it would be awfully repetitive: "my family, my friends, my home" over and over. Do you put those off-limits to make yourself dig deeper?

  2. Glad you had a nice time too. I don't make those off limits per se but I tend to focus on specific things about my family, kiddos, etc that I am grateful for that day. For example, one day Maddie said something really cute, s I wrote about that. Another day Ken did a really thoughtful thing, so I wrote that down. I hope that answers your question. Really, it is totally personal and however you feel happy expressing your gratitude is A-OK!
