Six Years As Mama

Today, at 4:51pm I gave birth to my sweet, beautiful, stubborn daughter. Even then she knew what she wanted and no one could stop her. She came even with my bloodstream pumped with medications to prevent her from arriving 2 months early. She came anyways. And she was in my arms. I was in awe of her tiny-ness and her beauty...her strength and her delicateness.

Oh she was precious.

She was my sweet baby.

The baby I had wanted for so long.

And now...

...she is SIX years old.

SIX!!!!

Wow, time flies.

Recently I heard someone saying, "The days are long, but the years are short."

I remember thinking that was so poignant. It's so true. There are days I can't wait for them to all be asleep so I can finally get a moment to rest! But then I miss them...and their laughter, their hugs and their soft plump kissable cheeks.

Now that my firstborn is six, the reality of growing up seems to be sinking in.

Five was a milestone, but it was just five. Now, six seems so much more of a big deal!

Maybe it's me, but today I have been feeling so many bittersweet emotions.

I love watching her grow and learn and turn more and more into the amazing little lady she is growing into.

But at the same time, her baby days become fainter and fainter....those distant memories of baby feet and cheeks, of her smell and the noises she used to make are all memories now.

I treasure her {and all three of my kiddos} every day...on the good and hard days...so I can really remember them forever.

Happy Birthday Beautiful Maddie!!!

We love you SO VERY MUCH!
