Are we in the Victorian Era again or what???

I just read a news story that totally angered me! Read it and see what you think:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15720339/

Ok, so WHAT THE HE*#? What is so wrong with breasfeeding a child in public? I really do not understand why people make such a fuss about it. It's a completely natural and normal thing to do, it's part of life! Sure we don't mind watching sexually graphic music videos on MTV, but when a woman wants to nourish her child, she gets abused and shunned!? I am of the idea that "If you have a problem with nursing in public, put a blanket over YOUR head!" If it bothers you, then DON'T LOOK at the nursing mother! No one is forcing you too! When something like this happens, it really discourages mothers from wanting to nurse. It really makes us feel like we can't go out with our little ones because we worry about where we will be able to feed them. Sure, we are all pro-breastfeeding, but in reality society is actually anti-breastfeeding in many aspects. I've experienced it first hand. In most places there is no where to comfortably sit and nurse your baby. If people want discretion, then provide a place for mother to go and feed their children! People don't eat in bathroom stalls, so why should a baby!!!

I hope something positive comes out from this event, hopefully something that will set precedent for the future and support a woman's right to breastfeed whenever, wherever.
