A Maddie Anecdote...

Ken told the kiddos a story today about a young man he saw today who dove headfirst into a lake last summer, at night, because his friends were doing it...and who unfortunately got badly injured and is now paralyzed from the neck down. He told them this story in a gentle, non-scary way...to help them understand that it's important to think before doing dangerous things, even though your friends may be doing them. The dangers of peer pressure! Maddie, the sweet caring girl she is, was very concerned about this young man and she asked if his neck could be fixed. We answered that unfortunately, right now doctors don't know how to fix it. She got a very thoughtful look and then asked, "What about nurses?"

Our hearts just melted. She is way to cute!
